Adidas The Samba Snowboard Boots are in their third production year and I am happy to say they finally got it right! Adidas Snowboard program has certainly learned that creating beautiful snowboard videos and hiring a bunch of industry smart industry heads only goes so far. You need to make a great product. The Samba year one: The Samba Boots were a mess, the factory stuffed the lines in kinked and it made for a terrible experience for all involved. Customer feedback was terrible. The tongue was WAY too stiff. The few that actually bought them and toughed it out, were generally pretty happy... The Samba Year two: last season Adidas resolved the liner fit issue, but it made you realize the other problems they had to overcome. First, their liners were not very comfortable even when they fit in the boot shell correctly. They were one of the only brands not using 100% heat moldable liners and they just weren't on the level of boots at the $250 price point. Second, The Toe looked like clown shoes. it was big and bulbous and generally not aesthetically pleasing. I am happy to say for the first time, The Samba is really a great boot! The Liner is much improved and heat moldable, The Tongue is the perfect medium stiff. The strong heel hold that Adidas is known for is there. Prominent J bars lock you down. The Continental Rubber / hybrid foam sole is very well executed. The articulation is natural. These boots are built very well and will last. Building a snowboard boot is not easy. It takes years of trial and error for even the best to get it right and Adidas Snowboarding is there.
