Vans Snowboarding
Vans has been making snowboard boots for more than 30 years, combining proven snowboard performance with the fit, feel, and styling Vans is known for. Vans snowboard boots are our best-selling boots for a reason: they fit a wide range of feet, offer excellent heel hold, and deliver a lot of boot for the money.
Vans offers several different lacing systems and performance levels. The Vans Hi-Standard keeps things simple with traditional laces, while the Vans Invado combines traditional lacing with BOA for additional heel hold and adjustment. The Vans Aura and Encore families offer the speed and convenience of BOA.
New to the Vans Snowboarding lineup is the Vans Super Standard, a softer-flexing boot built with Vans' high-end V3 liner. Pairing a more forgiving shell with a premium liner makes the Super Standard an especially interesting boot for riders who want comfort and a softer flex without stepping down in liner quality. We expect this one to be very popular and one of the better values in the Vans line.
The Vans Aura Pro 2.0 and Encore Pro 2.0 also get a refresh, building on two of Vans' most popular snowboard boots. Both feature a new toe cap and more rugged construction, along with upgraded BOA reels and nylon rope designed to improve durability.
One of the things we like most about Vans snowboard boots is the fit. They tend to have a little more room through the toe box, giving your toes enough space to move and stay warm without making the boot feel sloppy. The ankle and heel hold is excellent, keeping your foot planted where it belongs while riding.
How Do Vans Snowboard Boots Fit?
If you've never worn Vans snowboard boots before, don't be surprised if the toe initially feels snug. Vans uses a neoprene flex zone around the toe that makes contact with your foot and can make a new boot feel smaller than it actually is. Once the liner starts breaking in, that snug fit helps keep your foot in position, reduce heel lift, and keep your toes from repeatedly smashing into the front of the boot.
We've fit well over a thousand pairs of Vans snowboard boots, and sizing depends on the rider. It's fairly common for someone to prefer a half size larger than their normal shoe size. If you're unsure or caught between sizes, we'd generally rather see you go slightly larger than cram into a boot that's too small. Vans already has excellent heel hold, so there's little advantage to aggressively downsizing.
Like most snowboard boots, Vans liners will pack out with use, with much of that break-in happening during the first 6–10 days of riding. Nothing replaces actually trying snowboard boots on since foot shape, socks, riding style, and personal preference all affect fit. That said, some of us wear our normal shoe size in Vans snowboard boots and find that they pack out to fit perfectly.
