We are experiencing a changing of the guards. Some of the heavy hitting brands of the 00's aren't what they used to be. We have see it all from dropping "skateboard program", acquisitions by large companies, stale design, have just lost their way or have disappeared entirely.

Speaking candidly, I have felt an indifference to much of what has been going on in the industry side of skateboarding and snowboarding. We have sailor dived into the shallow end of corporate finance and we are seeing that, while financial support has been nice for some, It lacks soul. Skateboarding and snowboarding are not compatible with corporate culture. It is fundamentally a counter-cultural activity with a focus on individual expression and innovation.

Corporate culture does not create, it only remixes. From parody graphics to regurgitation of old design and concepts. This is not what made the "glory days" of skateboarding great. Skateboarding is at it's best when the brands had nothing to loose and could take risks and be innovative.  They operated on shoe string budgets. It was about building something with sweat equity rather than equity investors and fear of diminished financial performance.
