Community Push has been at it for years pushing the skateboard culture of Detroit in a progressive and healthy direction. Alongside Community Push, Levi's Skateboarding has played a great role in our scene as well by helping to launch what was the Rosa Parks Boys space. We're excited to announce that Community Push and Levi's Skateboarding have come together, with additional local support from shops across Metro Detroit, on a project that hits close to home: the development of The Roosevelt Skatepark. Located in the heart of Corktown Detroit, right up front of the Central Train Station, there has been talk for years of bringing a fully developed skatepark to our city and at last things are going live! Derrick Dykas has done so much for the Detroit skateboard scene through his organization Community Push. It has transformed our skateboard scene and captured national attention (and capital!). His commitment and motivation have inspired Ryan Sheckler to Donate Concrete tools to help the cause. Go Skateboarding Day was this past Sunday, June 21st and we spent it at The WIG in Detroit. Community Push organized local shops to hold a contest on a feature. We picked the main center quarter pipe feature and it went down. So, it turned out to be more of a contest in who could snake the best, but some trick still went down and prizes were won. As the sun was setting Derek Dykas ran a Dad Jam contest.
